Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Flight to Nepalgunj from Kathmandu
Altitude: 150m
Duration: 1 Hour
Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, a warm city located in western Nepal near the Indian border. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel and enjoy free time exploring the local surroundings and markets. Overnight stay in Nepalgunj.
Day 2: Flight to Jufal and Trek to Tripurakot
Altitude: 2,100m
Duration: 7 Hours
Take an early morning scenic flight to Jufal, offering breathtaking views of western Himalayan landscapes. Begin trekking through traditional villages, terraced fields, and riverside trails toward Tripurakot. Enjoy the peaceful rural atmosphere and local culture along the route. Overnight at teahouse/lodge.
Day 3: Trek to Khaliban
Altitude: 3,200m
Duration: 5–6 Hours
Today’s trail gradually ascends through forests and hillside villages with beautiful mountain scenery. Pass through remote settlements and enjoy views of green valleys and surrounding hills. Reach Khaliban and rest overnight surrounded by peaceful natural beauty.
Day 4: Trek to Kaigaon via Blangra Lagna Pass
Altitude: 2,615m
Duration: 7–8 Hours
One of the most adventurous trekking days as you cross Blangra Lagna Pass (3,760m). The trail offers spectacular mountain views, alpine landscapes, and scenic ridges. Descend through forests and remote villages before reaching Kaigaon for overnight stay.
Day 5: Trek from Kaigaon to Chaurikot
Altitude: 3,050m
Duration: 6–7 Hours
Continue trekking through peaceful mountain trails, traditional settlements, and beautiful forest sections. The route offers stunning landscapes and opportunities to experience local village life in western Nepal. Overnight stay at Chaurikot.
Day 6: Trek to Chhotra via Maure Lagna Pass
Altitude: 3,380m
Duration: 6 Hours
Today you cross another scenic mountain pass, Maure Lagna Pass (3,894m), surrounded by spectacular Himalayan views and alpine terrain. Descend through beautiful meadows and forests before reaching Chhotra for overnight stay.
Day 7: Trek to Gothichaur
Altitude: 2,660m
Duration: 5 Hours
The trail descends gradually through forests, villages, and open landscapes. Enjoy peaceful trekking with opportunities to interact with locals and observe traditional mountain lifestyles. Reach Gothichaur and rest overnight.
Day 8: Trek to Jumla Bazar
Altitude: 2,540m
Duration: 7 Hours
Today’s trek takes you to Jumla Bazar, one of the major towns in western Nepal. Walk through villages, farmlands, and riverside trails while enjoying local culture and mountain views. Explore the lively local market area upon arrival.
Day 9: Trek to Tharmare via Danphe Lagna Pass
Altitude: 3,400m
Duration: 5 Hours
Ascend towards Danphe Lagna Pass (3,692m), offering panoramic views of hills and Himalayan ranges. The trail passes through forests and alpine landscapes before descending to Tharmare for overnight stay.
Day 10: Trek to Bhulbhule
Altitude: 3,182m
Duration: 7–8 Hours
Continue trekking through remote mountain terrain, forests, and traditional settlements. Enjoy peaceful surroundings and natural beauty throughout the journey. Overnight stay at Bhulbhule.
Day 11: Trek to Jhyarigaon via Ghurchi Lagna Pass
Altitude: 2,636m
Duration: 6–7 Hours
Cross Ghurchi Lagna Pass (3,480m) while enjoying magnificent mountain scenery and alpine landscapes. Descend through forests and villages before reaching Jhyarigaon for overnight stay.
Day 12: Trek to Rara Lake
Altitude: 2,990m
Duration: 4–5 Hours
One of the most awaited days of the trek as you finally reach the breathtaking Rara Lake, Nepal’s largest and deepest lake. Surrounded by pine forests and snow-capped mountains, the lake offers incredible natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere. Spend time exploring the lakeside and enjoying sunset views.
Day 13: Trek to Talcha Airport
Altitude: 2,200m
Duration: 3 Hours
After breakfast, enjoy a short scenic trek to Talcha Airport. Take in the final views of Rara Lake and surrounding mountains before overnight stay near Talcha.
Day 14: Fly Talcha – Nepalgunj – Kathmandu
Altitude: 1,300m
Duration: 3 Hours
Take a scenic flight from Talcha to Nepalgunj and connect onward to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel or airport marking the end of the unforgettable Rara Lake Trek adventure.
